about me
My name is Elena Matheu Kim, or Matheu Kim, and I am an illustrator, artist, and designer based in the Netherlands and the USA.
As an illustrator, my background is in storytelling, and this is pervasive through every aspect of my work - designing, painting, building. Patterns, both organic and repeating, are carefully folded into the pieces. The undulating shape language draws the eyes and has come to reference my own obsession with finding and interweaving connection.
The multidisciplinary nature of my research-based studio practice is used to play with what is real, what is not, and invites people into spaces of dialogue. I hope to find the connections there, discovering and highlighting the impacts of communication through narrative and the immersive nature of storytelling.
